Government funding extended two more weeks

Congress was expected to spend the week debating legislation on funding the government before the December 7th deadline on Friday. With services being held on the Capitol due to President George H.W. Bush’s passing over the weekend, congress has proposed a continuing resolution to extend current funding until December 21st. President Trump has already stated that he will approve the resolution once it is passed through congress.

The continuing resolution will also delay the revealing of farm bill text, which was expected this week. Farm Bill language is now expected for the beginning of next week, and Secretary Purdue has already begun expressing his support for the bill with congress.

Membership are reminded to be prepared in the case of a possible shutdown, and to reach out to the LMA Government and Industry Affairs team with any questions.
