LIVESTOCK MARKETING ASSOCIATION
Mackey is a 1982 graduate of Kansas State University, with a degree in animal science. That was the year he joined LMA as a region executive officer, covering Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska. In 1997, he joined LMA’s management team.
In September 2003, he was named CEO on an interim basis, and in February 2004, was named CEO. In a recent interview, he talked about the people LMA represents in the marketing sector. Market operators, he said, “are innovators in technology, genetics and marketing itself. Producers can and should draw on the knowledge of these marketers. Because of their knowledge, it’s important that marketers be at the table to discuss, with other organizations, issues we have in common.”
Native to Kansas City, Crist attended Kansas State University where she received a degree in Accounting with a minor in Finance. Upon graduation she worked for several years at the CPA firm Peat, Marwick & Mitchell. She later worked as Corporate Budget Manager for Sprint, and Senior Accounting Officer at SFK Leblanc.
Crist joined LMA in April 2015 and became interim CFO in July 2015. Her hobbies include traveling, tennis, skiing, concerts, watching sporting events, and spending time with her friends and family which include 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
JENNIFER AIMAN, VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS
Aiman graduated from Avila University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in General Management. In 2002, she earned an MBA in Management Information Systems from alma mater Avila University, Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to joining Livestock Marketing Association in December 2003, she worked at Meara, Welch & Browne, a Kansas City CPA firm, from September 1991 until December 2003 in various positions including Firm Administrator and staff member in the business valuation department. Currently, she serves LMA as Vice President of the Livestock Marketing Insurance Agency, Inc. She is married to Alex Aiman and has twin daughters Alexis and Madison Aiman.
NEAL BROSNAN, FACILITIES MANAGER
Neal Brosnan joined LMA in 1990 and today has over thirty-five years experience in property management. Neal serves as the Facilities Manager for the LMA headquarters located in Kansas City and is responsible for all LMA shipping and receiving. The father of four with three grandsons; he enjoys the outdoors and occasionally makes time to judge local BBQ competitions. Neal is also known as the “Grill Master” for the LMA team.
JAN CAGGIANELLO, EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR
Jan is a native of Eastern Kansas where she grew up and attended school. Joining the work force in 1969 following high school graduation, Jan began working for LMA, then known as the Certified Livestock Markets Association in the insurance agency under General Manager, Karl Heimke. Jan worked as a livestock claims clerk until 1976 when she shifted gears and became an assistant to the Region Executive Officers, a position she still fills today. Through the years, Jan has learned a variety of jobs. Currently, Jan manages the accounts and records service, assists in HR matters and is an executive administrator to LMA management. Jan cherishes the LMA family atmosphere and the team spirit encouraged by Mr. Mackey.
BRANDI CLIFFORD, ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
Brandi Clifford is a 2000 graduate of Maple Woods Community College, Kansas City, Missouri, with an Associate of Arts degree. Her work in the insurance industry began in 2002 as a Technical Assistant at Arthur J. Gallagher; working her way up to an Account Coordinator where she earned her Associate in Insurance Services in 2005. Brandi joined LMIA in 2006 as an Assistant Region Administrator and in 2008 joined the accounting department full time as an accounting assistant. She handles all posting of receivables, assists with P/C invoicing, and handles accounts payable tasks. Brandi also works with membership services by keeping up the membership database and dues. Brandi is currently attending Maple Woods Community College again pursuing an Associate of Applied Sciences degree in Accounting. Outside of work she is involved in her daughter Gracelyn’s Girl Scout troop, her son Joshua’s Boy Scout den and both of their various sporting activities, she also enjoys hanging out at home with her husband Jason and children.
JACK GOODWIN, STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Jack is a Kansas City native, growing up in Overland Park, Kansas. He attended Truman State University where he studied Agricultural Science and Business. Prior to joining LMA, Jack worked for his family’s company which engaged in horticulture and sod farming. He also recently began my own row crop and hay grass operation. As a staff accountant, Jack’s responsibilities include preparing and posting daily deposits, reviewing and posting invoices and assisting customers with billing inquiries. In his free time, he enjoys fishing and watching baseball games.
MORGAN MACKEY, CONTROLLER
Morgan graduated in 2013 from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science and Business Administration degree in Accounting. Prior to working for LMA, she was the Accounting Manager for a sales and marketing management firm for vendors of the world’s largest retailer. A Kansas City native, Mackey grew up on a cattle ranch.
DOUG ROONEY, SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Doug began his tenure with LMA in1996. He supports and manages the in-house computer and telephone networks and is presently working toward Microsoft and Cisco certifications. Doug attended Mid America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, studying Business Administration and Music. Before coming to LMA he worked in the banking and manufacturing industries. Doug resides in Olathe with his loving wife and two beautiful sons. In his personal time he is involved in church, sports, scouting and school activities with his family and plays in a jazz group as time permits.
DAN STARK, VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE & HUMAN RESOURCES
Dan earned his B.S. in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting and Finance. Before joining LMA, Dan was an Operations Coordinator at AMC theaters where he oversaw theater operations and a staff of 100+ at a local theater. Dan was president of Delta Tau Delta fraternity during his time at K-State and remains involved with his fraternity as an assistant chapter advisor. While not at work, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, Amy, and their dog, Harley, and watching as much soccer as he can.
PIERCE BENNETT, DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT & INDUSTRY AFFAIRS
Originally from a family farm in Houston, Ohio, Pierce attended Kansas State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science and industry, with a minor in mass communications. During his collegiate career, Pierce was fortunate to spend two summers in Washington D.C., where he was an intern at the North American Meat Institute and Senate Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, and Nutrition. Pierce joined LMA following graduation from K-State. In his free time, Pierce enjoys being in the outdoors, playing tennis, and barbecuing.
CHELSEA GOOD, VICE PRESIDENT GOVERNMENT & INDUSTRY AFFAIRS
Chelsea is a graduate of Washburn University School of Law. She also has bachelor’s degrees in agricultural communications and journalism, political science, and public relations and a master’s degree in communications studies, all from Kansas State University. Prior to joining LMA, Chelsea worked at the Kansas Department of Agriculture, first as the Communications Director and then as a Staff Attorney specializing in animal health law and policy. A Parker, Colorado native, Chelsea comes from a beef industry background and is passionate about agriculture. In her free time, Chelsea enjoys live music, K-State sports, and spending time with friends and family.
JARA SETTLES, GENERAL COUNSEL & VICE PRESIDENT OF RISK MITIGATION
Jara grew up on a purebred cattle operation in Hoskins, Nebraska. Prior to attending Washburn University School of Law, she received an associate’s degree in agricultural business from Butler Community College and a bachelor of science in agriculture from Kansas State University. Before joining LMA, Jara was a civil litigator at the Kansas City office of Shook, Hardy, & Bacon LLP in the pharmaceutical product liability space and devoted a large portion of her practice to regulatory and compliance counseling of food and beverage companies. Currently, Jara remains active with her family’s cow herd, enjoys judging livestock shows across the country, and spends her free time raising club lambs in Leavenworth, Kansas.
HOLLY LEACH, FINANCIAL RISK MITIGATION ASSOCIATE
Holly Leach joined LMA in 2019 as a Financial Risk Mitigation Associate. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness from the University of Missouri—Columbia and worked in the retail banking industry for 13 years before joining LMA. As part of her role, Holly works with banks to collect and analyze financial data for buyers making livestock purchases at member markets. She obtained a property and casualty insurance license and works with LMIA to handle payment protection insurance policies and claims. Holly and her husband, whom she has known since she was 7 years old, have two energetic children and enjoy spending time swimming and at their family farm.
CYNTHIA ZAMORA, FINANCIAL RISK MITIGATION ASSOCIATE
Cynthia Zamora brings 10 years of expertise in the auto-finance industry to LMA, where she specialized in credit analysis, underwriting and dealer development. Prior to her role in auto-finance, she worked as an artist, fragrance coordinator and education executive for prestige cosmetic brands. Cynthia joined LMA in 2019 as a Financial Risk Mitigation Associate. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her two grandchildren and beloved yellow lab, Bo. She enjoys spending the warm summer months outside near the beach and KU basketball in the winter.
KURT HAMILTON, PRESIDENT
Hamilton was raised in central Missouri farming and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, graduating in 1985 with a B.S. in Agriculture. He joined LMA in May of 1985 as a Region Executive Officer servicing the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa; later adding Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin to his region. In July of 2004 he joined the Livestock Marketing Insurance Agency management team as Vice President and was named President in July of 2005.
JENNIE JONES, VICE PRESIDENT
Jennie joined LMA right out of high school in July 1979 as an accounting assistant for the Membership and Insurance departments. In 1982, she moved to the insurance agency to handle livestock policies and claims in the Livestock Department. She earned her Property & Casualty License in 1986 and was promoted to Region Administrator in July 1997, handling the accounts in 10 states for two Region Executive Officers. In 2005, she became Co-Manager of the insurance agency and currently manages accounts in 13 states for three Region Executive Officers.
CHRISTINE WESTBERG, CISR, REGION MANAGER
Christine obtained her Property/Casualty/Life/Health Insurance License in 1986 working in personal lines for State Farm Insurance. Wanting the challenge that comes with working in commercial insurance, she began her career with LMIA in 1990 as an assistant administrator in the eastern region. In 1993, Christine was promoted to Region Administrator. A few years later she added the state of Texas to her territory. She is currently managing Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, and Texas. In 2005, she became Co-Manager of the insurance agency.
RESA DOTY, LIVESTOCK ADMINISTRATOR
Resa joined LMA in the spring of 2019 as a Livestock Administrator. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Resa previously worked as a paralegal in Kansas City. In her role as Livestock Administrator, Resa processes livestock claims. Resa spends her extra time visiting family in South Dakota, playing with her dog Florence and exploring Kansas City.
TARA JOHNSON, ASSISTANT REGION ADMINISTRATOR
Tara Johnson is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Business with an emphasis in animal science. Before coming to Livestock Marketing Insurance Agency, she worked as a Claims and Deductions Coordinator for Smithfield Foods, focusing on the Foodservice industry. Tara joined LMIA in August of 2018 as a PAYS Information Officer and obtained her Property and Casualty Insurance License. Tara was promoted to Assistant Region Administrator in October 2018 and will be helping with Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas.
JENNIFER SCOTT, ASSISTANT REGION ADMINISTRATOR
Jennifer Scott has been a resident of Kansas City, Missouri nearly all her life. Prior to joining LMA, she spent fifteen years in the health care field where she specialized in sales and operations training. Her key focus throughout her professional career has been customer service and building solid relationships with her customer base. She is married with two active high school-age kids. In her free time, you can find her and her husband, Andy, at the volleyball court cheering on their kids or at any other sporting event they can attend. Jennifer has joined the LMIA team as a Livestock Insurance Administrator.
NORA LIERZ, BOND ADMINISTRATOR
Nora is a Kansas City native who graduated from Baker University with a Bachelors degree in Business. While attending college and upon graduation, she worked for Kansas City Life Insurance Co. During her 11 years with the company, she worked with Group Disability, Group Life and Group Medical/Dental. She later obtained her Property/Casualty/ Life/Health Insurance License through Farmers Insurance and enjoyed working with the public. In 2009 she joined LMIA as Bond Administrator.
JOSEPHINE McCOY, REGION ADMINISTRATOR
Josephine McCoy obtained her Property/Casualty Insurance License in 1985 working in Property Casualty Lines for Fred S. James Insurance Company. She began her career with Livestock Marketing Insurance Agency in 1986 as a Region Administrator in the west & northwest region. A few years later she added the states of Florida and Georgia.
KRISTEN PARMAN, VICE PRESIDENT MEMBERSHIP SERVICES
Kristen Parman is a native of Buffalo, Missouri, where she was raised in the livestock and livestock marketing industry. Growing up on a commercial cow-calf operation in southwest Missouri, working with the family livestock trucking company and the local livestock auction market has given her a well-rounded view of the livestock industry and the importance of seeing an issue or service from the perspective of all sizes of operations. A 2001 graduate of Missouri State University, she spent time with LMA as an intern in the membership services department before earning her Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Business. Following graduation, Kristen returned to LMA to assume the role of Membership Services Coordinator. In 2003, she was appointed Vice President Membership Services. Kristen enjoys the close contact that her position allows her to have with the LMA membership and believes that it’s the relationships between the LMA staff and membership that is the key to current and future success and protection for the livestock marketing industry.
NATALIE AYERS, COMMUNICATIONS & STRATEGIC MEDIA COORDINATOR
Natalie grew up on her family’s registered Angus cow/calf operation in Green City, Missouri. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Science & Agricultural Journalism, with a minor in Hospitality Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia in the spring of 2020. Natalie’s key responsibilities include creating strategic messaging and correspondence on behalf of the association while working with the Membership Services team and others to represent LMA’s core values and members. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and spending time on her family’s cattle operation.
MOLLY BERTZ, GRAPHIC AND DIGITAL COORDINATOR
Molly was raised in west-central Missouri on her family’s century farm. She graduated from Kansas State University in 2019 with degrees in Agricultural Communications and Advertising. She joined the LMA membership services department in early 2020 after previously serving as an intern during the summer of 2019. Molly assists in ensuring consistent brand image, messaging and creative strategy for LMA. In her free time, she enjoys traveling to visit family and friends.
CATHY COLLETT, MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR
Cathy grew up on a small farm in southwest Iowa and is a 1997 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Business. That same year she joined LMA as the coordinator for the Agribase Communications Network (ACN). Cathy is now a key team member on multiple LMA member services including the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship, LMAAuctions.com, LMAWeb.com, and works with the membership services team to assist and answer our member’s questions about utilizing LMA’s book of member services.
IZABELLA MICHITSCH, MEMBERSHIP SERVICES COORDINATOR
Izabella is a graduate of Missouri State University, where she earned a B.S. in Agriculture Business, majoring in Finance and Management. Izabella interned with LMA before returning as Membership Services Coordinator. She enjoys working with LMA membership and helping to plan the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship. In her free time, Izabella enjoys going home to her parents’ farm to help with their small cattle operation.
MITCH PETERSON, MEMBERSHIP TECHNOLOGY ADMINISTRATOR
Mitch was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He has lived in Kansas and Missouri most of his life from the bustling cities, to the suburbs of the Ozarks, and on the small farms of his family. Mitch grew up fascinated with the many aspects of growing technologies and in 2008 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science. He enjoys learning new technologies and helping others understand the need and focus of today’s up-and-coming technical sciences. Mitch is excited to expand upon the next chapter in his life by bringing his technical background to LMA and working with the members of Livestock Marketing Association. Mitch and his wife, Alexzandrea, reside in Kansas City and enjoy spending time in nature.
JOE BARBOUR, REGION EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Raised in Florence, Texas, Joe earned a Master of Science degree from Texas Tech University in 2010 and a Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas A&M University in 2009. Both degrees are in Agricultural Education. Joe previously served as a field representative and insurance agent with Texas Farm Bureau and Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies where he served members’ needs in policy, education, training, volunteer leadership and insurance. Joe has a strong background in commercial beef production; he has worked in varying capacities at several large feedyards and conducted carcass research in packing plants across the United States. In his spare time, Joe and his wife, Kristin enjoy watching Texas Tech football, spending time outdoors with their dogs, and grilling or smoking BBQ with friends and family.
JIM CARTER, REGION EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Born in Mississippi, Jim Carter grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating from Mississippi State University in 1976, he returned as the third generation to the family livestock market. When growth in Memphis “consumed” the South Memphis Stockyards, he served as Executive of the Tennessee Beef Council for five years before joining LMA in 1991 as a region executive officer. Jim now resides in Walls, Mississippi, and represents LMA and its members in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee. When he is home, Jim enjoys outdoor activities, which include working on his small farm, hunting, and fishing. Jim notes, “It is terribly satisfying working with an organization dedicated to helping an industry, where my roots are so deep.”
JESSE CARVER, REGION EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Born and raised in Southeast Texas, Jesse Carver is a 1998 graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Animal Science. In January of 1999, he started work for Jim Schwertner and Capitol Land and Livestock; a large livestock dealership in Central Texas. Jesse began his career as yard manager for Capitol and then spent nine years as a buyer purchasing stocker and feeder cattle at daily auctions across Texas and Oklahoma. This is where Jesse says he began getting his “real education” in the livestock marketing industry. In August of 2007, he joined LMA as a region executive officer representing LMA and its members in Louisiana and Texas. He feels the lessons learned as a buyer help him to better relate to market owners and livestock dealers within his region. Jesse currently resides in Montgomery, Texas, with his wife and son where he enjoys hunting, fishing, cooking and maintaining a stocker and feeder cattle operation.
TERRY CHAPMAN, REGION EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Terry Chapman was born and raised in Haskell, Texas. Growing up working with his family’s farm and ranch, he worked at the local livestock auction along with his dad, mom, brothers and sister. Terry worked his way through college working for the Texas A&M Agricultural Experiment Station and as a salesman for the Southwestern Company. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1975 with a BS degree in Agricultural Economics. In November 1977, Terry joined LMA as a region executive officer and currently represents LMA and its members in Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Terry and his wife Ruth make their home in Norman, Oklahoma. Terry and Ruth have two daughters, Haylee and Caroline.
BRYCE DIBBERN, REGION EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Bryce Dibbern grew up on a family farm and ranch near Amherst, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Ag Economics, and Grazing Livestock Systems. Bryce and his wife live on her family ranch near Interior, South Dakota. Bryce previously worked as a Grain Farm Marketer for Cargill in Central Nebraska. Dibbern’s hobbies include, hunting, fishing, camping, flying his powered parachute plane and last but not least, steer wrestling at rodeos across the Midwest states. Bryce represents LMA and its members in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Northern Kansas.
JOHN KISSEE, REGION EXECUTIVE OFFICER
John Kissee is a Missouri native who grew up in a marketing family that goes back four generations. Most recently his grandfather and father operated livestock markets in Arkansas and Missouri. John worked as an employee at his father’s commission company while in high school and then went on to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia where he received his B.S. in Agriculture in 1979 and Masters of Education in 1980. After joining LMA in 1981, John moved to Atlanta to work in the southeastern United States. He currently represents LMA and its members in the Atlantic Seaboard from Florida to Maine. John is married with three children and four grandchildren and lives in Woodstock, Georgia.
FORREST MANGAN, REGION EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Forrest Mangan is a California native. Forrest grew up in a small town in north-central California before attending San Joaquin Delta College. Transferring to Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, he graduated with a degree in Agribusiness with a concentration in International Management. Following graduation, Forrest was employed by the Cal Poly Animal Science Department where he served as the Livestock Judging Coach and was a part-time lecturer. Forrest joined LMA in 2006 and currently resides in California; representing LMA and it membership in the states of Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
JUSTIN SCHABEN, REGION EXECUTIVE OFFICER
An Iowa native, Justin Schaben was born and raised in Dunlap, Iowa. Justin’s family currently owns and operates Dunlap Livestock Auction and Justin is the third generation to be involved in the livestock marketing industry. He graduated from Iowa Central Community College with a degree in Airport Management and Aviation Science and then attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha Aviation Institute. With his wife, Laura, Justin currently resides in Dunlap with their two sons, Breck and Joe. In addition to working for LMA, Justin is a row-crop farmer and enjoys hunting, fishing and boating.
CRAIG TAYLOR, REGION EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Craig Taylor calls Winchester, Kentucky, home. He grew up on a cow/calf and stocker operation where his family also raised tobacco and hay. Craig graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. His involvement in the livestock marketing industry when he began his career as a cattle buyer for American Cattle Company while also managing a real estate and auction company. Before joining LMA, Craig managed Paris Stockyards in Paris, Kentucky from 2011-2019. He was an active LMA member and assisted in hosting the 2016 WLAC contest at Paris Stockyards. His experience as a cattle buyer and market manager led him to join the LMA team in December of 2019. Craig and his wife Carrie have three children; Emma, Campbell and Evan.
