Packing plant headed to East Texas: reports

East Texas Packing LLC is planning to build a meat processing facility in Tyler County, Texas, that will initially employ 65 to 100 workers when operational, the company’s chief executive said in a statement released to local media outlets.

Woodville’s city council approved a memorandum of understanding with East Texas Packing during a special city council meeting on Feb. 6, and a 39-acre tract of land where the plant will be built was sold by the Tyler County Industrial Corp. on April 19, according to the Beaumont Enterprise.

Operations are expected to begin this fall. The company will process meat for a large distribution facility in Houston known as Texas Quality Meats, according to KFDM.com.
